COVID-19 has had a very serious impact on very young elementary students as they have not yet had the opportunity to have a normal school year. I have requested resources to help my third graders especially with their phonics and basic math skills. I have seen an increase in the number of students who are below level or have holes in their education when it comes to very important foundational skills. Mainly because of online learning and limitations in the classroom. It is critical for these children to learn this skills in order for them to be successful in the years to come. I have chosen phonics games, magnetic alphabet kits and magnet boards that I will use in small groups to aid in interventions as well as help students further their skills and phonics as they become better readers. I have also chosen addition and subtraction manipulatives - base ten blocks and ten frames that will help struggling students to better understand both addition and subtraction.
