As we work toward filling the gaps left by disruptions in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, I've found that many students are below the expected levels of learning. I've also found that more students have difficulty staying focused and on task. As we teachers have been learning to implement Science of Reading into our small group literacy groups and literacy centers, I've found a need for more engaging hands-on materials to help my students gain proficiency in phonemic awareness and phonics. Boogie boards, games, and manipulatives will help to increase student engagement in my small group instruction and centers. I'll be able to have students work on phonics skills with me in a small group and then apply those skills independently or with a partner as they practice with the games and manipulatives in centers activities tailored to their needs. Building these skills will help my students to increase their reading proficiency.

About my class
