Most students have a desire to earn good grades in all of their classes. For students struggling in math, technology has been a positive intervention where students can learn and build confidence. The IPad has many creative lessons to help students acquire and maintain necessary math skills. IPads motivate struggling learners with the many applications designed with students of all backgrounds in mind. The games and adventures are creative and filled with lessons that build based on the students performance and abilities. Students are motivated by the many levels and what is required to progress up a level. Students are enthusiastic about competing against peers. My students will learn new skills in their regular education Algebra class while at the same time working on areas where they struggle. Students who might be behind several grade levels in basic math skills are able to attend grade level classes. The students take a transition class where they are able to get help for remediating deficit skills. The IPad will be a good tool to have the students use for building up skills from basic math and pre algebra that they might have missed. The students will have taken assessment tests to indicate which skills need development. I will seek out games or activities available for the IPad that target those skills. The students can spend a given amount of time such as 15 or 20 minutes working on skills from previous grades. The students are able to continue in the general education curriculum while mastering other new skills.
