These headphones will enhance independent center time for my students by allowing them to respond to classmates ideas and create individual responses. We have independent learning centers time daily. While they are doing that I am doing small group reading. As I mentioned before my goal this year is to fill in some of the gaps that these students have obtained from missing crucial time at school due to COVID. While I am working with students in small groups my other students are working on their Chromebook either reading or using apps that will read to them. The headphones we have now do not allow them to respond to their classmates ideas, as they do not have a microphone. Students are more engaged in their learning if they have the ability to interact with other students. By obtaining new headphones with microphones, students will be more challenged to think critically and creatively in order to respond to their classmates. We use several programs such as Seesaw and Flipgrid that ask for student responses. Not only will having quality headphones help students to listen carefully to directions, it will allow them to respond to their peers, thus exposing them to more ideas. I really hope you will approve this request as it will help my students greatly. It will give me more time to do small group reading and math, while still knowing the other students will be engaged in their own independent learning.
