We are now fully immersed in a blended digital learning educational environment. Students are coming with great digital knowledge already. I love using digital programs to supplement learning. But in doing so, we have missed out on the social interaction of school; we have missed out on the hands-on play of early childhood learning. Students are missing experiences to build small motor skills and sensory experiences. By adding in learning that capitalizes on hands-on, sensory, and social experiences, learning engagement and depth are increased. These things cannot be gained on a computer. Kids need to be doing and moving and talking and manipulating objects to supplement their learning. I would like to add blocks and manipulatives and a sensory table to my classroom to enrich basic learning tasks to become dynamic learning experiences.
