Research shows that young children experience the most growth through play. These items will allow my students to grow through imaginative play. Most of my students have speech and language impairments as well as social delays. These play experiences build language, academic and social skills. I’ve chosen a variety of items to address various interests, deepen multi-cultural awareness and promote acceptance of diversity. Through play my staff and I work on IEP goals. These materials can be used to count: block people, inches on the height chart, building blocks, food items, etc. All of these purchases will allow us to teach turn-taking, sharing and helping one another. My students love to donate their gently used toys to the class, but the arrival of new toys offer excitement and motivation for my students. Outside play is an important part of our daily routine. The wagon will allow me to be efficient and safe in getting our toys and students outside.
