The first items are a variety of card and board games. We have a time each Friday where the students have who have finished all of their homework for the week are given a time to play. I feel like students today only want to get on the Chromebook and play a game. I would like them to instead play a card game or board game. All of the games I have chosen have an emphasis on numbers. They all teach strategies as well as the element of luck or the chance or probability of getting the number they need. The biggest plus is that the students are having to talk to leach other, learn how to take turns, learn how to be a good sport, and learn the ins and outs of many different games. The second items are new private offices for testing. I have had cardboard offices for my five years teaching 5th grade, three years of teaching Kindergarten, and now my second year of 4th grade. Over the years, students have marked them up with crayons and used pencil on them. I even have a few inappropriate pictures that I have tried to clean off. The corners are also tearing. I am asking for plastic ones that can be wiped down with Clorox wipes which will also sanitize them. Having a private office is especially beneficial for students who are easily distracted as well as giving each child a quiet area to think during testing.
