One of the major themes of 7th grade science is learning about the different organ systems and how they work together. The dissection of a vertebrate species, such as a frog, can provide critical insight into how our own bodies are designed. Students at this level are insatiably curious, and they crave the opportunity to do more than just learn about science - they want to DO science. Years from now, very few students will remember what I showed them, and even less of what I told them. But I guarantee they will remember the days they spent exploring the anatomy of a frog.
