As previously mentioned, I have a great group of students, thus their attitude to learn is there. The current situation we're living in has tremendously affected the students both emotionally and academically. As 3rd graders, students should have their decoding strategy, which is part of their essential components of reading (phonological awareness and phonics) pretty much mastered. Well, I have a handful of students who are still struggling with the essential components of reading. Placing them behind academically. Third graders move from addition and subtraction to multiplication, division, place values, and fractions to name a few therefore, flashcards, math games, etc will only benefit and better prepare them for fourth grade. I do intend to have more interactive small groups to support their learning and really expose them to what is to come in fourth grade. To help with their anxiety and not distract them from their learning, the chair bands are great and have discrete flexible seating. This will help ease their anxiety and stress.
