In my 10 years as a school psychologist, I have never seen such an increased elevation in trauma, emotional struggles, and behavioral difficulties as I have this year. The impact of the pandemic is far-reaching and has resulted in profound implications for our students, such as anxiety with uncertainty, the instability of school attendance, grief over the loss of loved ones, and the overall sense of having no control. Through your generous donation, my students will have the resources and tools necessary to engage them in learning social-emotional skills that will allow them to face our world's current challenges head on! All of the products I have chosen were done so with intention and purpose. The various books and curriculums will be useful in counseling and instruction as they provide effective interventions and activities to engage students' understanding and learning of social-emotional skills. The games and prizes have various uses, such as building rapport with students, an activity break, or as a motivator to encourage effort in any given task. The sensory tools are for the purpose of building a kit that students with Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, or other sensory needs can access to help them become more regulated. While these items may all have their individual purposes, they all have the same goal in mind: to help our students become independent masters of their emotions and their mental health!
