I am a classroom teacher, who over the years have seen programs removed from the curriculum, including art. Each year, I purchase with my own money, art supplies to use with my students. It is a love that has grown to the other classes in my school. I find that the art projects allow the students to express their creativity. Also, when they use the canvases, paints or oil pastels, they take pride in their project and love to have something special to take home and share with their family, something that will remind them of their time in 5th grade.
