As a first year first grade teacher, I didn’t have the funds to create my own classroom library filled with books. The books kindly donated to me are not on grade level so the students can’t further their reading progress with the stories I have. These students have been impacted by COVID drastically and their reading levels are significantly lower than precious years. With books bags, they will be able to take these books home and practice reading them when they are not at school. I want to incorporate books in my library with multicultural stories, social emotional skills, and books in Spanish as half of my class are English Language learners. My class loves to read and I want to provide them with appropriate opportunities to contribute to learn and love reading!
