Many of my students have a hard time staying focused and I believe that having a class set of headphones will benefit every student and will minimize distractions for students as they work on the laptops. There has been an increase in anxiety and behavior issues because of the impacts of COVID and how my students have had to learn since the pandemic hit. Because these second graders haven't had the "normal" amount of classroom time thus far, they are behind in their ability to focus and stay on task. The headphones will help with this and also the reason that I have included several types of sensory activities. The goal is for the students to earn time to play with them or if I see that they are getting frustrated. Last, I am requesting manipulatives that can be used to teach math. These will be used to enhance learning in math and will benefit all students. My students are showing holes in their math skills due to the inconsistency in their education during Covid. These hands-on materials will help strengthen their skills and deepen their understanding. Further, if a child has an extended absence I can send some of these materials home with them if they have access to technology. Thank you very much for considering my project. My students and I are very grateful!
