Equipment for experiments and demonstrations is important for student learning in the science classroom. Over the past year, many students have been learning from home, and they have had to explore science through simulations and videos. While there are benefits to computer-based simulations, they cannot replace the hands-on experience students have when they physically interact with scientific phenomena. With these two pieces of equipment, my students will be able to personally experience phenomena that clearly illustrate fundamental scientific principles. They will be better able to learn through inquiry when they see the effects their experiments have on the real world, rather than on a computer program that (from their perspective) may or may not accurately reflect reality.
