Sensory and social emotional materials would be wonderful additions to our school; not just for our students with special needs, but for any student here who needs a quiet place to calm his/her body and get focused. Benefits for our SpEd students specifically would include increasing our students' concentration while in their general education classrooms as well providing them a safe place for mental and physical relaxation. Sensory and social emotional materials would also encourage social interactions and communication development among our students. These materials will hopefully address the behavioral needs in our school by allowing students the space/materials to calm and regulate themselves as well as increase their instructional stamina. COVID-19 has had an impact on our students' ability to regulate themselves so these tools and materials would be amazing!
