Many students have struggled with social and emotional well-being during the pandemic. Creating and playing music helps them express emotions and feelings, and brings peace in an uncertain world. Singing and playing together also brings feelings of unity and connection. We do not have enough xylophones for each student in a class to participate at the same time. Having additional instruments will mean less wait time for a turn. Students will be developing their brains as they learn new skills and improve their note reading abilities. Reading music also translates to increased literacy skills such as tracking, fluency, and decoding. We will use our new xylophones to accompany our singing as we read, create, perform and respond to music and text together!
