Building with blocks and pretending in the play kitchen are not just fun ways to "take a break" from learning....they are the ways kindergarten kids learn best! Research shows that pretend play helps students with problem solving and conflict resolution. My project will replenish my supply of pretend play materials and building materials so my students can act out real-world problems and come up with ways to solve those problems! Items such as magnetic blocks and Play-Doh will help create new things and make a plan to organize our materials. Dramatic play items such as a veterinarian kit and a toy toolbox and tools help us to act out careers and roles we may want to play in the future. Flexible seating such as beanbag chairs will provide ways to use our classroom space in many ways.
