The COVID-19 Pandemic has shown that using the internet in education is extremely important. However, one of the problems that I have noticed in my classroom is that students no longer have the skills or ability to use books in research. The main purpose of my project is to give students the opportunity to use books and literature in school, while also giving them the opportunity to take a break from their computers. I also feel that literacy is extremely important, and I would like to incorporate literacy skills into my Seventh Grade Utah Studies classroom. I would also like to give my students a bookshelf to keep these materials organized. I also teach World Geography for ninth grade students. Often, I print pictures for the students to walk around the room to look at to give them the opportunity to collaborate with each other, and to get out of their seats and away from their computers. Currently, I only have access to a black and white printer, and being able to print these images in color would help to deepen their learning experiences. I would also like to give my students opportunities to collaborate and teach each other, which is why I have asked for posters for students to be able to create, and marker boards for students to be engaged during class discussions and practice. We also use the Summit Learning platform for students to be able to learn at their own pace. I would like several sets of headphones for students to be able to borrow to help them to watch videos and use individual resources. I need masks so that I can remain healthy and stay in school to be able to continue to teach my students to the best of my ability!
