Using computers is the most engaging activity that I have in my classroom. I can take my students to any destination in the world and visit any location on the planet. I can equally allow them to skype into the classroom if they are homebound and meet with other students in the classroom to collaborate. This important piece of classroom equipment allows my students to expand their learning outside of our classroom walls to the outside world and beyond. I can take them on unlimited fieldtrips at no cost through the use of websites. I can create videos for one group, while individually instructing another group. This allows for students to have individualized instruction in areas that they need. The pandemic has created holes in learning. Using computers in the classroom; I can fill those holes with videos, educational content, slide shows, and online activities created for each student. Currently, we only have access to 6 machines for a limited amount of time throughout the day. This is not enough to help students really make any gains related to the holes that the pandemic has created. My hope is that as we gain the new technology we can go to partner stations where students can collaborate and work together; the lead student will gain leadership skills while the mentee student will gain academic instruction. Please help us become fabulous again!
