While we have a good phonics program at school, my students need more opportunities to put these skills into practice through reading of leveled or decodable text that they can enjoy so that they may realize more success in reading. My small reading groups need more chances to practice the skills they are learning throughout the day than their non disabled peers. Multiple books at their current level(s) will enhance their reading group experiences. An engaging classroom for struggling readers includes a wealth of great books to read and practice.
