Our public school is in a rural part of the county that is focused on farming. Due to our farming heritage, we have many immigrant students of which English is not their first language. We have approximately 280 students in the school and 13 students in my 3rd grade classroom. Where we lack in financial resources, we make up for in community resources. Our community based school can always count on the generosity of the community to support us with volunteers. My class is a family. When one is having a bad day, there is always a friend to cheer their up. They celebrate one another's accomplishments. We are a family, not only in the classroom, but the school as a whole. Due to the small school size, the teachers know most of the students and have developed a personal relationship with them that is based on trust and respect.
