Some of the resources in my project, such as the canopy, pillows, and weighted blanket are going to be used to create a calming area in my classroom for my students to go when they are overwhelmed or stressed. They are going to be able to go there and relax. This will allow my students to gather their emotions. I have added some sensory toys in my items so my students will be able to use them when they are in the calm down area or throughout the day to help gather their emotions. It is an anxiety-filled time for all of us. Allowing my students a space in the classroom where they are able to calm down and work on their coping and self-regulation skills will enhance our learning. Everyone learns better when they are emotionally regulated! The majority of my students are from minority heritage groups. It is important that they see themselves reflected in the books that they have access to in the classroom. The books that I have in my cart will allow my students to see themselves and other cultures reflected through books. I have added things like paper, pencils, and highlighters to my project so my students can have more supplies that are in good condition. My students love to create and are very artistic. These items will allow them to express themselves artistically. They also need Engineer-A-Coaster Activity Kits.
