We will be using the magnetic letters/letter tiles/magnetic boards to help strengthen our phonic awareness skills, which includes letter identification, letter sounds, building and blending CVC words, and so much more. Having more then one magnetic letter set allows multiple students to do hands on activities that will help them to learn how to manipulate letters to make words. It will encourage students to sound out words, they don't know, as they build the words. We will be able to use these resources as a whole class, in small group instructions, and during one on one support. When students have their own letter tiles to use, they will be more engage, more focused, and it will encourage students to practice these important basic phonological skills to help them learn and master the first step to becoming great readers. When students are building words and blending the sounds together to read the word they've made, I will be able to monitor and take anecdotal records to see who has mastered the concept. Students will be able to do these hands on activity through out the year.
