GVHS is a rural high school with, an enrollment of three hundred and thirty. This high school is known as GVHS. GVHS is located in rural central Utah, the population of five thousand. Our school is rich in tradition. Roots run deep within the town as generation after generation continue to raise their families here. Friday nights revolve around the high school events and activities. The student council which consists of thirty students oversees all of the activities and events for the school. Additionally, they are involved in a student leadership class where they are taught various aspects of leadership as well as soft skills. Due to the rural location of our school and the rising cost of DJ's it is not cost beneficial for our school to hire DJ's for our dances and activities. They have worked hard to raise money to purchase a sound system, but need lights to complete the package. The student council has also worked hard in promoting school spirit & unity. They are currently working on an introductory presentation to announce our athletes prior to games on our home courts/fields. Having these lights would provide them with the opportunity to do this. This project does not impact the learning directly within the classroom, but it does allow for a more positive atmosphere and ability to enhance school activities and events which in turn provides our students with a positive school culture.
