With the onset of Covid-19 and remote learning, the inability of our English department to buy more than a classroom set of novels for students has become a challenge. How can they learn and read when they don't have access to the words? When we put books in the hands of the students, even when they can't be in the same room, we also give them the power to bring their perspective and insight back to their peers. With access to books, students will learn about the American Dream from the perspective of immigrants and compare this with the more traditional American Dream depicted in The Great Gatsby.
