As a Speech Language Pathologist, I have always sought to support my students' communication in as many ways as possible. This project will help my students by providing them with classroom materials including many language-rich books, LCD tablets for collaboration between students, and reinforcing materials which help motivate further growth and learning. Books are a wonderful tool to use in speech therapy. They can be used to target a variety of goals for children of all ages. This is extremely helpful in a school setting because having access to these books and materials will help me meet the needs of all my students, PreK-5th grade. Abigael Gray said "Teaching within a narrative context can make language learning less demanding, more meaningful and more authentic." The books and materials I have requested can be used to support learning whether in person or remote. It is so important to continue to support communication and literacy especially through the inconsistent times our students have been facing during COVID-19. As they continue to learn better communication skills, they will be able to better express themselves, and have their needs met in these often difficult times.
