My students need a place to organize their material, including iPads, headphones, and workbooks that are secluded from other students. This will help ensure students are not in contact with others during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, my students need hands-on material that helps each student master specific concepts and skills. For example, the magnetic blending tiles will help my struggling readers make connections to putting words together using manipulatives that will help students connect consonant vowel consonant words, words with blends, and words with digraphs. My classroom has very limited resources to these hands on materials. Additionally, I have a very high number of students that are not on reading level for first grade and I am in need of these resources. These materials will help students learn phonics skills needed for becoming a fluent reader. Furthermore, I included hands-on mathematics manipulatives to help bridge learning gaps using addition and subtraction cards and an answer sheet for each student to check his or her answers. This will help students take the initiative of becoming advocates of his or her own learning and master addition and subtraction facts, while also maintaining minimal contact with other students, especially when we are trying to keep in person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. My first-grade class is within a Title I school and is in need of material that will help them be successful through various learning activities that reach diverse learning styles. Any material provided would be greatly appreciated and truly loved within my classroom. This material will help connect diverse learners in a more effective manner. Moreover, students will become more engaged, which in turn, will help them learn phonics and mathematics skills quicker. With the effects of COVID-19, these materials are need to help bridge learning gaps.
