I teach reading interventions to students in grades four through eight. These students are struggling with phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary. Many of these students have developed these deficits in reading because of changes in learning as a result of the pandemic.
With the appropriate tools and technology, I am able to successfully intervene with students online. I strive to make my lessons interactive and engaging. A desktop monitor and a travel monitor would help me utilize and more fully take advantage of the tools I use to keep students engaged as well as develop highly effective lessons.
Having an additional monitor will help me track students progress and participation on a separate screen as they participate in learning activities. Having a portable option will help me continue these efforts no matter where I may be. Teaching lessons through the use of online programs while viewing students in our online classroom at the same time requires dual monitors. With additional monitors, I will be able to view the teacher side of a program, watch students participate in activities by viewing their side of the program, and view students on camera and chat. This will also decrease delays and increase organization and data collection.
