The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need for engaging activities that directly relate to students' lives. Students are becoming disengaged because they are having a hard time connecting to the material being taught either because they do not feel that it relates to their lives or because the activities are not conducive to being done at home. Whether students are learning at home or in school, the content they are studying should be relevant to things that matter to them. In addition, the projects should be flexible so that students can do them either at home or at school. The PocketLab Air Quality sensors that I am requesting are the perfect piece of equipment for these requirements. These air quality sensors allow students to design a variety of experiments dealing with air quality in both indoor and outdoor settings. Air quality is a very relevant topic for students because, as wildfires and pollution, both become more and more prevalent, concern about air quality is increasing. The data from the sensors can be collected and analyzed both at home and at school. These kinds of projects will help students feel more engaged in their learning, improve their critical thinking skills, and even give them the opportunity to make an impact in their communities.
