From 7th grade introduction to rocks to my 11-12th grade geology class, all will benefit from taking the rocks we have found and identified and cleaning/polishing them with the help of the tumbler and abrasive kit. Making it easier to identify and classify the rocks and the forces that created them. Polishing rocks will allow students to see the distinct differences between specimens. It also makes them photograph better for digital lessons and distance learning opportunities. Being able to see the intricate details of our rock samples will inspire a love for the beauty, complexity, and fragility of Earth.
