The two books are highly recommended by numerous SLPs and teachers who teach literacy to struggling students. I am taking initiative in my district to support co-teaching with SLPs and classroom teachers to support the oral and written development for students across levels. The books will provide education and activities for co-teaching and literacy-based approaches to speech therapy. Clear, direct, systematic teaching will be provided through the interventions in the books as well as direct, hands-on experiential learning with manipulatives. Teaching students to divide words into rhyming families, or recognize prefix + base words are two examples of how oral and written language may both be instructed across ages and settings.
