Flexible seating options will help our classroom to be mobile, change partners easily, and learn both inside and outside! Even though students are conversant in social English, they need to increase their speaking domain score which is usually their lowest score, even lower than reading/writing/listening! We will use these supplies to help students participate in speaking activities centered around sentence stems that help students speak about content areas (social studies, science, English/language arts). Additionally, our school is focusing on place-based education which involves getting students out of the building and into the natural environment. Whether we are learning about bugs in kindergarten or studying erosion in 5th grade, as English learners, the students need to have experiences!
