Our kindergarten and first grade students are continuing to practice learning how to write letters correctly. Having students use lined whiteboards and lined Magic Boards will help them do this. Students are eager to use hands-on manipulatives that are highly engaging and fun to use. Students spend a great deal of time on computers and iPads. When they get to use hands-on manipulatives, they are so focused and highly engaged that they don't even sometimes realize they're learning as well. Our kindergarten students would use the lined Magic Boards and lined white boards for practice writing letters in the alphabet, writing high frequency words and writing sentences. The double-sided whiteboards that have no lines on the back are perfect for our needs because we also work with older students who will not be using the lined front side. Using white boards and Magic Boards will help us use less paper because our students will be able to use them over and over again. Our school has been focused on teaching reading through phonics, especially our students in the younger grade levels. The Twist and Turn 3-Letter Word Builders will be perfect to use with our kindergarten and 1st grade students to help them practice reading CVC words in a fun new way. Our students will be able to read the CVC words they create and then they'll be able to quickly change a letter to make a new word giving them the opportunity to practice reading many CVC words in a short amount of time. This engaging activity will help the students practice phonics by sounding out each new CVC word they create.
