Students in the life skills classroom require specially designed instruction to help them succeed inside and outside the classroom. As a Life Skills teacher, I create IEP goals that help them to work on daily living settings, academics, communication and vocational settings. Each student has their own IEP goals and we require a multitude of materials that create opportunities for them to practice these skills. Many of our students have goals related to becoming independent and practice cooking skills. We use games to help the students to learn to socialize with their peers. Many of our students require math manipulatives to help them learn basic math skills.
