Due to COVID, a lot of students had to do their schooling online. Most children were unable to play with others their age and it has caused a delay in their ability to work together in groups with their peers. My students love learning and having opportunities to work and learn together. I have created centers that will help build and foster important life skills. My students are more engaged when they are given chances to think outside the box. I am wanting to incorporate STEM materials, sensory bins, and dramatic play into our center rotations. In dramatic play, students will not only use their creativity but will also practice their writing skills, and language skills. Sensory bins will focus more on fine motor skills, learning to work together and take turns, and work on language skills. I will also incorporate curriculum learning with the sensory bins. STEM bins will be created to allow students to use their problem solving skills, work as a team, and build fine motor skills. As a first year teacher, I want to make sure I am able to support my students and give them the tools they need to progress and grow in these skills.
