These games and supplies will help my students with autism build social skills and encourage strong peer interaction. We have limited structured games and choices for them and this is an area they all need to practice. After they work hard on their school work they have opportunities to play and relax at the end of the day. They would be able to pair off or get in small groups to learn and play the new games. In addition to checkers and traditional games like Uno, they would be also able to learn some new ones! During the cold winter months, often recess is indoors as well. These games would help them have structured time to have fun. This also is my first year having to teach art to my students. Without many supplies our art is repetitive and not fulfilling their creative potential. For each of them to have their own art books and materials would let them feel ownership of their work. They would have space to create art daily and try new mediums of creating with these supplies.
