Having a telescope powerful enough to see the planets and moons that we study in our solar system will be an invaluable way to allow my students to connect with astronomy in a very real and unforgettable way. Talking about the rings of Saturn will never be as impressive as seeing them with your own eyes. I want to offer those kinds of experiences to my students so that their curiosity and sense of wonder can extend out into the cosmos, and not be limited to what they see on a computer screen. Everyone remembers the first time they saw the moon, or the sun, or a planet through a telescope. I want my students to have an experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives. This telescope will help my students have concrete experiences related to astronomy.
