Students with disabilities have been at a great disadvantage throughout the pandemic. Many students that receive IEP services have not been able to access technology and virtual learning as easily as their peers. All my students experienced significant regression and delays in their reading and communication skills as a result of COVID-19. Speech buddies allows students with speech sound disorders to achieve correct placement for difficult speech sounds such as /r/ and /s/. Research shows that these tools result in significantly faster treatment time vs. traditional therapy, allowing them to spend more time in the regular classroom accessing the core curriculum.
