The materials I've requested are the supplies my students need to be ready for their upcoming ballroom competitions and performances. Ballroom dancing is formal and elegant, so proper shoes, costumes, hair and makeup are necessary for my students to be ready to compete. Wearing the proper attire goes a long way in helping my students to feel confident about how they look, so they can be confident in how they dance. Competitions are life-changing experiences for the students! They increase social and emotional learning by facilitating team-building and allowing the students to work through adrenaline and emotion. On the competition floor, they have to trust their dance partner and other team members to dance their part well. They perform and give their all onstage even though they may be nervous or scared. The kids learn how to be proud of themselves and their team members for dancing their best, while also recognizing where they can continue to improve as dancers. My students' social and emotional learning has been greatly diminished during COVID as many competitions and performances have been canceled. We are grateful to be dancing together again and appreciate your help to make our team events possible!
