The requested resources will help students social-emotional learning by allowing students to take breaks and reach their sensory needs as they go throughout the school day learning new things. Students with autism and other learning disabilities struggle to sit through multiple sessions of work, but with these materials such as a Big Joe dorm chair and Bouncy Band Wiggle Feet tools, it will allow them to have an outlet and a break in order to continue learning. Sometimes our students are needing to keep busy with their hands and feet in order to have better focus at their desks and away from their desks. They also will benefit from having more headphones in the classroom in order for them to cancel out the noises that become a distraction and help them to zone in on what the learning is that is going on. The reading resources such as the guided reading highlight strips will also help readers to take their reading step-by-step and allow students to really check their progress throughout reading. The more time students take on their reading line by line, it can really help them to realize the mistakes they might be making. They will have those extra tools but also have a variety of different reading materials in order to help them progress even farther. The reading materials include Pete the Cat 12-Book Phonics and Elephant and Piggie: The Complete Collection which are both series that will help the students with their step by step reading and building up to challenging reading levels in the future.
