When learning and fun happen at the same time, my students effectively and quickly gain knowledge and understanding. These games and puzzles will give my students a variety of opportunities to learn about the U.S. Constitution and early American history. State core standards encourage cooperative learning and working as a group in game play and puzzle solving will facilitate critical thinking and problem solving skills, all within the context of cooperative learning strategies. This is all able to happen while learning valuable information about our country's history, including the founding fathers and the creation of the U.S. Constitution, how the government works, important U.S. geographical context, and westward exploration. Learning through games is one the best ways to practice so many different skills and gain so much critical knowledge all at the same time. In the aftermath of remote learning, I have seen a need to create more group activities where my students can engage in conversation, laughter, and practice teamwork skills. These type of fun activities are important to include in each unit of study because they are the motivating factor to encourage my students to focus and give them opportunities to learn while having fun. When learning and fun become synonymous, my students are winning the game of education regardless the outcome of the board game, card game or puzzle competition.
