Amidst the chaos of our modern world and struggles associated with COVID-19, we seek to offer our students a reprieve in the peaceful and timeless presence of a garden. Students will have the opportunity to plan, plant, and grow their own food. Students will learn about life cycles, soil science, plant needs, insects, seed dispersal, and many other science concepts while enjoying the gentle smell of dirt and feeling the satisfaction that comes with growing food. We began our schoolwide gardening journey last year with a hodge-podge of pots, buckets, and in-ground plants, but grow boxes will allow our garden to be easier to maintain and more sustainable for many years to come.
