Masks have hindered the language development of so many kids. Every single one of my kindergartners qualified for speech this year. This has never happened before. I believe that because of masks, they have not observed the proper speech formation of phonemes. The sounds they learn directly affect their ability to put the sounds together to create words. This delays them from being able to learn to read. I would love to be able to give my students some fun manipulatives to help them overcome this setback and develop a love of learning and especially reading. I would love to be able to stock my classroom with a variety of really fun early literacy manipulatives to use as we learn the phonemes and our alphabet. I can use the stones, tiles, and cubes to help them decode words, segment, replace, and blend phonemes. I chose products from the very basics, like the unifix cubes to sentence tiles and books. This will help me to teach them the fundamentals and give my most advanced students some fun challenges.
