Since we have returned to in-class school we are struggling with behaviors that we didn't see in some students before COVID-19. Students who struggled with behavior problems before COVID-19 are now elevated to such a degree that the students spend more time in crisis than time learning.
We have several students who are dealing with the death of a close loved one. We need more tools to help them be successful. Using multi-sensory modalities with students with special needs is a basic tenant.
I am requesting a document camera. We have some hands-on learning items in my class, but what would really make a difference is being able to show them visual prompts, videos, demonstrations, and reinforcing pictures to stimulate their interest. This could be done with a projector.
We currently do not have any way of showing our special education students videos except all sitting around and watching a science experiment on my small laptop. If we want to do a movement video we currently cannot. We can make up movements, but we don't have a way for all of us to see guided movements at the same time. We are doing our best to help our students, but we could use a little help ourselves.
