Having new headphones for my students will allow them to work independently on their Chromebooks, at their own pace and preference. Many of my students have missed a lot of school due to COVID-19 and so having personalized, independent work to meet their level of need is so important. My students would use these headphones during their independent work time, where they practice important skills in reading, math, and writing in engaging ways. Flexible seating meets the different social-emotional needs of my students and allows them a choice in their learning experience, while safely accounting for social distancing. It accommodates for the unique learning needs of each of my students, by allowing them different stimulation or a new location to work. I have many students who prefer to sit away from their group or in a new place to help them focus. I also have some students who need movement to help them focus, which this flexible seating allows. My students are more engaged and productive when they are able to choose where they sit. A new place to sit is an exciting choice for my students, and they focus longer and produce better work when they have this choice.
