This 3D printer filament will make it possible for the students at our school to be able to create and manufacture real 3D items that will be used to solve real world problems. The materials will be used to create 3D objects that the students have thought about and designed to solve real world problems. We have digitally designed and created various projects to help solve some real life problem/obstacles. They have ranged from simple classroom aides like customized bookends for the class library, to joining forces with eNable to create prosthetic hands for people with physical disabilities. Some of which have been students in our very own class! This has been a magnificent opportunity to show the students how math and scale and percentages etc... come into play to actually building something useful in life. "Where the rubber meets the road" as some would say. I can't think of a better project that helps motivate students to want to learn and create and use their educational abilities to solve problems for others.
