The iPad is an excellent portable workstation. It has a lot of flexibility with its display, touch controls, and easy to use software. I can use the iPad to differentiate student learning while I'm sitting next to them on their computers. I can take the iPad from student to student and show them notes and draw with the stylus. iPads also have easy to install apps that work easily with shared mac computers that my students use. Standard 2.MP.1 is to help students make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. The iPad will help me be able to do that more easily. I can also connect the iPad to the tv and easily display worksheets, math problems and reading activities. Overall the iPad will assist me in being a more dynamic, and helpful teacher. With my leftover money I'm going to buy an iPad pen to and case to keep it safe and to help write easily. I often wish I had a globe to show different cities/countries. My students need help with mastering their addition/subtraction/multiplication facts, so the add machine and dominoes game will help with fast fact practice (Standard 2.OA.1). In 2nd grade one of the standards is learning shapes, so the magnetic geo shapes will help the students with visualization. I have several students who struggle with phonological awareness, so these games will help students visualize vowel teams and sounds more easily. The magnetic calendar is a great way to show the date and weather so everyone can see!
