In 1st-grade, students are learning to be good readers, which will take them through the rest of their academic careers. Helping students understand the important aspects of literacy, including phonics, phonological awareness, morphology, semantics, syntax, and writing. The materials chosen will assist greatly in the development of these aspects. Reading is foundational. For students to achieve higher academic levels, they must be taught the basics, whilst developing a love for reading. From the headphones to the alphabetic bean bags to the level appropriate books, my students will find many enjoyable ways to continue in their reading journey.
