Coming to the nurse's office is an unwelcome interruption in the school day for any student, but especially for autistic students who rely on schedule and consistency. Some students need to come to the office on a daily basis for medication. The current method of sorting and storing medication is prone to spilling when the desk is bumped, making it that much more frustrating to the students to have to wait while it is picked up and sorted out. Others might only ever visit in the case of an injury or illness. In either case, the nurse's office needs to have what they need easily at hand, as well as comfort measures to make the experience less stressful or frightening. By providing these supplies, the school nurse's office will be a better organized, more efficient, and more welcoming place for all students who need medical care. The students who need daily medication will be able to quickly get what they need and get back to learning. Those who are hurt or sick will have all the comfort measures they need to get feeling better faster.
