With your donation of gallon-sized nursery pots we will expand the quantity and quality of plants students can raise on our school farm this season. Branching into native and drought tolerant perennial plant species means we can grow the plants outdoors rather than in an enclosed greenhouse space. Being able to raise more plants means more students can be involved in hands-on, farm-based learning in an outdoor (and Covid-friendly) learning environment through the winter and spring. Often through the winter months outdoor student engagement wanes because there are fewer farm tasks to complete. Our students love the seed starting, transplanting, fertilizing, and watering processes and we're eager to expand their involvement. Growing drought tolerant plant species also opens up conversations about our Utah climate, climate change, and environmental impact, while also empowering our students to become ambassadors for change in the greater community.
